Periapical X-ray, also known as dental X-ray, is the process of obtaining a radiological image of the teeth, jawbones, and the condition of the gum line using X-rays. There are two types of dental X-rays. The first is a panoramic X-ray that shows the entire mouth and teeth, while the other is a periapical X-ray that shows individual teeth. Dental X-rays are usually requested to facilitate diagnosis before starting treatment and to ensure certainty during the stages of treatment. It is also requested after treatment for control purposes.
